Five Must-Have Gingham Pieces to Add to Your Wardrobe

5 Must Have Gingham Pieces

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

When I think of gingham I think of pictures of Audrey Hepburn in a blouse and gingham crops riding a bicycle or Brigette Bardot in a gingham dress. Having grown up with a love of 50’s and 60’s icons, I have always had a sweet spot for this pattern.

However, as much of a fan I am of the classics, I am loving the fresh and updated take on gingham that many people are embracing. I even recently purchased this MINKPINK dress, which combines this classic pattern with ruffles and the oh so flirty one shoulder trend. I’m also loving this cold shoulder Amanda Uprichard dress.

How are y’all embracing gingham this spring/summer?

Tassel Accessories for $25 Or Less

Tassel Accessories for 25 and Less

Growing up in the Southwest, tassels and fringe have always been that little something extra to add to a piece. I’d know, too, when I was back home after a trip once I’d see someone wearing a jacket or a shirt or a pair of boots with some fringe adorning them. It honestly is just something that has always seemed to be a part of that quintessential Southwestern flair when it comes to fashion.

Lately, though, I’ve been seeing it on everyone and everywhere.  From fringe jeans, tops, sarongs, handbags, sandals, necklaces, earrings, and more. It’s crazy to think how something so commonplace for one person becomes all the rage for another due to a “trend”, but that’s fashion for you.

I will have to say, this is one trend I will wholeheartedly get behind. (Sorry cold shoulder, still warming up to you. *pun intended*)

How are y’all embracing the tassel trend?

$50 and Under for Her Gift Guide

50-and-under-for-her-gift-guide

I honestly cannot believe Christmas is this week!

I’ve yet to wrap my gifts and I need to figure out what I’m going to wear for Midnight Mass and for the big day. In actuality, I just have been putting off a-lot of Christmas related things as it had not felt like that time of the year down here until this past weekend (yay for cooler temps!).

Here’s to the most wonderful and stressful time of the year!

How to Wear It Now & Later: Topshop Pretty Collar Shift Dress

wear-now-and-later-mid-sept-2016

I ADORE a good collar shift dress, and this one by Topshop is not only “pretty” but also very versatile.

The white collar tends to scare most people off in thinking that this dress can be worn in cooler months. Don’t let the collar fool you, this dress can still be a true adversary on your quest to look ladylike and chic when it gets colder out. Just pair it with a classic style purse and some sophisticated booties (along with some fleece lined tights for all you cold blooded people out there), and you’ve got a great look!

Happy Friday!

How to Wear It Now and Later: J Crew Ruffle-Sleeve Top

Wear now and later--Sept 2016

I am loving so many pieces by J Crew right now, but this ruffle sleeve top definitely tops them all (pun intended). It is a top that can easily be paired with a jean, skirt, or nice pant and also is a great transition piece.

For warmer weather (like what we currently still have), I love it with a white jean, cute heel, and dainty shoulder bag. When the weather starts to cool down a bit, it can easily be tucked into a corduroy skirt and paired with a fun animal print mini saddle bag and ankle booties. Also, if you are someone whose body temperature is cooler than average you can easily throw on a pair of cute fleece lined tights with the second look to stay warm.

Hope y’all enjoy this new series!

Lovin’ Right Now: Bell Sleeve Tops

Want to wear fall colors but still keep cool while it’s 80+ degrees outside?

Try out the bell sleeve top. Its shape gives you movement and also allows for air to better circulate around your arms. This effect ends up making you feel cooler than you would while wearing any other similar long sleeved top.

I also love pairing a bell sleeve top with skinny jeans, as this can even out your proportions and not make you feel frumpy. Or you can do like the above photo and tuck in your top into an a-line mini skirt. So cute!

Have a good weekend and TGIF!

Spring Dressing

Now that Spring has fully come alive with the weather staying consistently in the 70’s+, I’ve been wearing as many dresses as I can. I’ve also been starting to lust for more to put in my closet. Whoops.

My current “lust list” includes either a LWD (like the one in Wednesday’s post), a lacy dress, or one that’s more structured in either a great print or color. It’s also hard to go wrong with a new floral dress as well, as long as it doesn’t have a more infantile pattern. Larger floral patterns are also a nay for me, as they are better suited for someone with a taller frame.

Have a good weekend, y’all!

A modern take on dressing for Easter

A modern take on dressing for Easter

We all know the drill, Easter is here so time to put on some pastels and florals. After a while, though, that routine becomes just that–a routine.

I love the idea of modernizing an Easter outfit with pairing traditional pieces with quirky pieces that give the outfit some flair and edge.

A floral dress may seem stereotypical. Add a chunky navy necklace and gray heels and you’ll make that floral dress feel even fresher and younger. A black and white dress may seem inappropriate for some on Easter, but paired with a feminine blush necklace and ladylike ankle wrap heels you can wear it to brunch and church with the family. Blush dresses are amazing as they act as a neutral and can be paired with anything, but I’d pair it with the geometric white dress, the gray heels, and round sunglasses to make the look more modern than feminine.

Have a great Easter, y’all!
