Heights Mercantile

Over the weekend I finally decided to check out the Heights Mercantile Area that opened up last year and am so glad that I did!

Heights Mercantile (located at Yale and 7th Ave) is an urban market district that comprises of several shops and eateries, which includes The Gypsy Wagon’s Houston location. This store is ah-ma-zing! Not only do they sell stationary and products by Rifle Paper Co. but they also have the cheekiest home decor and fun clothing styles.

Another popular store that is located in Heights Mercantile is the storefront for eyewear brand Warby Parker. Known for their retro styles and “Buy A Pair, Give A Pair” program, Warby Parker has become a household name now in the world of eyewear, which is easy to see due to the crowd that gathers in their store.

So if you live in the Houston area or are coming to visit here soon, be sure to check out Heights Mercantile and the quirky Heights neighborhood that it sits in.

Little Fall Things

little fall things 2013

Now that Fall has come, I felt it was time to buy some of the usual necessities I cherish during this time of year. Living in the Northwest can sometimes take a toll, especially when the sun is hardly out and you have to resort to Vitamin D pills while the rains come. However, there are quite a few up sides to the rainy and cold weather. I love being able to bake some warm pumpkin bread when it’s cold, and I’ve always loved being able to wear cozy sweaters as Oregon’s Fall is genuinely perfect sweater weather. Last year, I had come to love knee high socks and being able to wear them over my leggings on my “lazy days”. As for the Clarisonic set, I recently got in the mail as a gift from my wonderful mother and can’t wait to try it out!

Also, happy first day of Fall everybody! Hope all of y’all enjoy it!

Let’s play catch up

So, my momma’s visit to Central Oregon was definitely an enjoyable one. I got to see so much more of the Eug that I haven’t before she came. We went to several new restaurants and shops–all of which I loved. Also, I got her to ride the local bus!

Now I know a few posts ago I mentioned VRBO and how through its website my momma found the house we stayed at. I also talked about how I would post pictures of the house for all of y’all to see. Currently I am working on a paper for a scholarship, so it’s best to show y’all through pictures what happened during her visit than having me describe it to y’all.

First, we went to Marie Callender’s…

Then the next day we had some good Italian at Mazzi’s, while also being entertained by the Red Hat Ladies….

Of course, we also got in some time to look at some cool antique stores….

And then after antique-ing, we went to the kitschy, old-fasioned drugstore near my apartment…

Now, it wouldn’t be a trip to the West Coast without getting some fish….

Oh, and this is the house we stayed in…. (:

So, there you have it–my momma’s trip all put down to some pictures. Of course this does not do the trip a total justice by not showing the laughter and just plain silliness. However, it definitely highlights some of my favorite parts of the trip. Now, excuse me while I drink hot cocoa out of my new Breakfast at Tiffany’s mug while working on said scholarship. Also, if you have Instagram–add me! (If you have an iPhone and don’t have Instagram, get it!) Look me up under: shortnsweetnlovely (:
