My Top 10 Interview Pieces

Interviewing is a tough enough experience already without having to worry about your outfit. I have always worn a more classic silhouette with some modern touches as I work in a more conservative industry.

Obviously if you work in a less conservative industry you can mix it up a bit more, but I still believe when interviewing it’s best to stick to classics like a black blazer or sheath dress. Also, take note of your accessories and makeup. A bold lip or a chunky necklace is great on the weekend or for a night out, but not always the wisest choice when interviewing.

Again, you can always vary your look depending on the industry you are interviewing for, so know that there are no concrete pieces you “must” have. And of course just remember to wear something that you feel comfortable in as an interviewer will notice your comfort level right off the bat.

*For those who are still currently attending a university, stores such as Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor LOFT, and J Crew offer student discounts if you show them your Student ID. When I was a student I’d ask any store if they offered a student discount, as they really do help on pieces with a higher price tag.

Lovin’ Right Now: Kate Spade x Magnolia Bakery Collection

Magnolia Bakery, a New York City staple, has teamed up with Kate Spade New York to bring customers a collection as sweet as their goodies.

My favorites are the cupcake purse, cookbook clutch, and “yes please” silk scarf. All of them are sweet in their own right but can also easily add some quirk to any outfit. I especially love the thought of pairing the cupcake purse with leather or a no nonsense all black outfit.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Student Discounts

School will be starting up here soon for most colleges, and as the first day gets closer there’ll be more people out shopping. The great thing for college students is that a decent amount of stores give student discounts. I’m honestly so glad I found out about these before I visited the Topshop store in L.A. as it helped me save a TON of money along with the summer sale that was going on.

Also, here’s some great “Girl Code” advice that we all need to remember. How we dress is a reflection of ourselves, so why let other people dictate how we look? Love this show!
