Home Envy: Risky Kitchens

I love kitchens that break away from the norm! Quartz or butcher block countertops (instead of granite), subway tile, two toned countertops, and pendant lighting honestly make me feel a bit giddy. And I love the idea of putting artwork into your kitchen or even painting one of the walls a dark color to add some drama.

Eclectic spaces for some reason feel cozy to me. Maybe it’s the bright and warm colors that give off the feel or the fact that it reminds me of the houses in New Mexico I’d visit when I was younger.

Honestly, I never would have thought that these to decor styles could mesh so well together, but look at that, they do! Success!

Ever since I have been back in Texas I’ve been helping my momma out with decorating the new house and the mix of these two styles just feels so modern-day Texas style to me.

What two styles do y’all think mesh well?

Happy almost TGIF!

Home Envy: Cozy and Quirky

To me, there’s honestly just something so inviting about a space with an interesting color plate that also boasts gorgeous yet comfy furniture. Darker colored walls are really gorgeous and have become quite a trend as of late. Also, tufted furniture (like the large pink ottoman and camel colored headboard) is something I’ve always been a big fan of as it looks regal but cozy at the same time. I’d love to live in any of the above spaces and could only hope that my budget won’t mind the lovely things I want.

P.S. Can anyone tell me of places to find letters like in the second picture for a decent price? I’d love a C!

Quirky Little Apartment Things

I will be moving into a new apartment in a few months and I’m honestly so ecstatic about the new decorating possibilites that already am I looking for some new things. Personally, one of the best parts about being out on my own these past few years is getting stuff for my apartment. I love going to Target, Williams & Sonoma, and Crate & Barrel just to browse in their home goods and kitchen sections. Sometimes it even gets so ridiculous (in other’s minds, mind you, not mine) that I get excited looking at standing mixers. I still haven’t really found an exact “style”; however, I do know that I love quirky and bohemian pieces and comfort is always key too.

Below are some of my current favorites….

reclaimed wood chalkboard

cora potholders

chalkboard labels

booze mug

kitchen utensil rack

convertible sofa

live love pillow

Home is where the heart is…

Okay, I admit it. I’m barely a twenty-something and I love HGTV. The idea of making the place where you call home comfy and gorgeous just sounds like a grand idea. I even read the HGTV magazine more than I read Vogue or Glamour (..and that’s saying something).

However, no matter how many times I read the magazine or watch Color Splash, I can never sum up the energy to do something with my tiny bit of space I call home. It’s also hard to do anything about my space when it’s so tiny versus the homes you see them makeover on tv. So I have taken to the internet to see what others have accomplished with their smaller spaces–inspiration time!!

Emily Schuman (of Cupcakes and Cashmere) and her gorgeous living area!

What an adorable and quirky kitchen!!

The thought of a navy tufted sofa (like this one in Glitter Guide’s Emily Henderson feature) makes me giddy–no lie.

Nikki Rappaport’s studio (as featured on The EveryGirl) is the perfect mix of chic and bright and comfy.

So badly do I wish to style my next apartment here in Oregon so I can have this place feel even more like home. Does anybody have any quick (and easy) styling tricks that they’ve tried? Would love to hear them!

As always, have a wonderful day!
