Heights Mercantile

Over the weekend I finally decided to check out the Heights Mercantile Area that opened up last year and am so glad that I did!

Heights Mercantile (located at Yale and 7th Ave) is an urban market district that comprises of several shops and eateries, which includes The Gypsy Wagon’s Houston location. This store is ah-ma-zing! Not only do they sell stationary and products by Rifle Paper Co. but they also have the cheekiest home decor and fun clothing styles.

Another popular store that is located in Heights Mercantile is the storefront for eyewear brand Warby Parker. Known for their retro styles and “Buy A Pair, Give A Pair” program, Warby Parker has become a household name now in the world of eyewear, which is easy to see due to the crowd that gathers in their store.

So if you live in the Houston area or are coming to visit here soon, be sure to check out Heights Mercantile and the quirky Heights neighborhood that it sits in.

Living Room Gallery Wall Inspiration

In a month or so, my living room couch will finally be here! Y’all I am beyond excited to get started on putting my living room together and truly have my apartment be complete.

One thing that I have been wanting to do is to create a gallery wall behind my couch. Having all these blank white walls in my apartment is definitely making it feel a little less homey than I like and I feel that a gallery wall will help with that.

Of course, in the beginning, I got a little too analytical about it and tried thinking up of a “theme”. After browsing Pinterest, though, I decided that I rather have a quirky gallery wall than one that feels a little too put together.

Here’s to livening my place up a bit!

Looking Back on 2017

From my first ever solo trip to Seattle (a place I’ve never been to, no less!) to trying to expand and play with my personal style to Hurricane Harvey to the Astros winning the World Series–this year has been a crazy one!

Below are some of my favorite moments and photos from this past year. So thanks to everyone who I got to spend this crazy year, and thank you to Joybird and many other retailers for giving me all the design inspiration that I need for my new place.

Cheers to a new year!

A Cute and Rustic Airbnb in OKC

The decor for this Airbnb (House on 5th) is ah-ma-zing!

I love love love the mixture of rustic and contemporary styles, as well as the neutral color palette that the homeowners decided to go with. Also, it boasts plenty of room and is walking distance to lots of things in Edmond (an Oklahoma City suburb) and is a short drive away to downtown Oklahoma City.

This Airbnb comes highly recommended, so be sure to check it out whenever you’re in the area!

Home Envy: Colorful Kitchens

Have any of y’all noticed that when you look for a new place to live, you can really see housing trends over the years as you go from one place to another?

For some reason, I’ve never been the biggest fan of light wood grain cabinets or even white cabinets as both just seemed kind of “country” to me. I’ve always loved the idea of a darker shade or even a colored cabinet and lucky for me they are trending right now. I also love quartz cabinets but man those are hard to find with my budget! (A girl can dream….)

What do you automatically think of when you envision your dream kitchen? As said previously, I think of quartz cabinets, colored cabinets, lots of counter space, and a double oven to fit my cooking needs.

Home Envy: A Touch of Southwestern Flair

I don’t know if it’s due to having grown up in Texas or having visited my family in New Mexico over the years, but there’s always been something so inviting and cozy about a place that has some southwestern flair.

Right now I’m currently trying to find a place in the Houston area that sells reasonably priced serapes. I want to make some throw pillow covers for the couch out of the material, similar to what Brooklyn Decker did when she re-upholstered her chairs, as I think it’d add a nice punch of color to the space.

Have a good weekend y’all and stay dry!

Home Envy: HGTV Magazine’s Cover Look

Home Envy--HGTV Magazine Cover-2016

Honestly, when it comes to “me time” I’m such a glutton for a drink, some Wheat Thins, and my favorite HGTV shows. I love love love Fixer Upper and Property Brothers. The home transformations that they do honestly inspire me to have better decor than what I typically buy. Plus, I love to fantasize that one day they can renovate a home for me as well.

My love for HGTV shows transcends towards the HGTV Magazine, too. I usually just buy magazines every now and then at the store but with this one, it’s sent straight to me.

Lately, I’ve been looking into a non-neutral colored couch to invest in, so I’m glad that for the February issue brightly colored decor was featured. It’s really been inspiring me for when I get back to decorating my space again. Below are some of my favorites decor pieces I’ve been looking at, inspired by the HGTV magazine cover look.
