The Getty Center was just absolutely breathtaking inside and out. Riding on the way to it, we had to take a Tram along the hillside where you could look out onto Los Angeles. The sights of the cityscape were even more gorgeous as we looked out from the grounds. Also, the French Baroque and Impressionism (one of my favorite art periods) artwork were gorgeous. I was also so excited to finally see Van Gogh’s Irises in person–eeek!

Even if you’re not the biggest art fan, I definitely recommend to at least make one trip out to the Getty Center for the views alone.

Bits and Pieces of California

in & out july 2013

I had to eat In & Out on the beach right when I got there. I love me some Animal Style fries!

The Tyrion Lannister bobblehead I found at Amoeba Music that I almost bought but instead decided to stick with my albums and CD.

Snacking on Dylan’s Candy Bar candy while watching the sun go down at Santa Monica Beach was a great way to end our 2 day stay in L.A.

dorking it at SD County FairFor July 4th, we went to the San Diego County Fair. As you can see, I was dorking it up big time there 😉

Places to see in L.A.

I’m so excited to be fortunate enough to be overnighting in the West L.A. area near Venice Beach. Last time I was in L.A. it was for a good deal of one day but I still wasn’t able to see everything I had wanted to; however, I was able to go the touristy route and headed out to the Santa Monica Pier and Hollywood Boulevard. For my upcoming trip I’ve narrowed down some of the places I want to see to one particular list:

1.Amoeba Records

2.Venice Boardwalk

3.Venice Canals

4.Hollywood Forever Cemetery

6.Farmer’s Market

Luckily for me, my other half and I are staying at an Inn in the Venice Beach area that is walking distance to half the things on my list! For the others, it’s just a short drive away which of course is all due to some wonderful planning on a certain someone’s part 😉

For those in/from the L.A. area, I am welcome to any sort of restaurant or venue suggestions!
