Feels like Summer (Reader Update)

IMG_0696IMG_0695

Hello lovelies!

I know I’ve been quite hit and miss when it comes to posting since having gotten back from my trip to the Pacific Northwest and I apologize for that. Things have been crazy here, but I am currently trying to get back to some semblance of a normal schedule/routine.

Also, it’s really been feeling like summer here in the Houston area. I’ve already worn my white jeans multiple times and have even been able to get out the bikini as well. Crazy stuff–I know.

One brand I’ve come to love recently is Jude Connally and that is because of the saving grace of the moisture wicking material of many of her pieces (like the dress I am wearing above). If there’s one thing that annoys me, it’s when humidity gets my clothes to attack me and luckily that does not happen when you wear Jude Connally.

Have a wonderful Tuesday, y’all!

Wednesday Want: Raella Embroidered Tunic Dress

ww-raella-embroidered-dress

Since having laid eyes on those gorgeous dress while on vacation in Portland, I have been dreaming of it being in my closet close to every night. Okay, not every night, but I have dreamed of it!

I love the mustard color of it, the A-line silhouette, and the vibrant stitching on the sleeves and hem.

Here’s to spring weather, so I can wear my warmer weather dresses again!

Lovin’ Right Now: Sweater Details

Sweaters like these, with the coolest details, make me wish that mild temperatures were more common where I live.

Honestly, one week it’s in the 30s and the next it’s in the high 70s. If there ever were a state to be known for it’s ridiculous weather, it’d have to be Texas.

Style to Admire: Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle has been in the limelight for a while now, with playing the role of Amy Jessup in Fringe and Rachel Zane in Suits. Like her character Rachel Zane–this lady has got some style!

With her newfound status as the significant other of Prince Harry, I’m sure we will be seeing more and more of her. Also, I always knew she had good acting chops and amazing style, but I recently found out about her humanitarian efforts in Africa (i.e. providing clean water, building new latrines for school aged children, and more).

Needless to say, I not only admire her style but also her work ethic and big heart. Definitely a woman that many could look up to.

Lovin’ Right Now: Fair Isle Sweaters

I love fair isle sweaters because they are THE perfect sweater for the holiday season and will continue to remain a classic, unlike those sweaters with Rudolph and jingle bells on them. 😉

So for those who are heading to a more casual or cozy holiday party, I totally recommend pairing a fair isle sweater with either a simple mini skirt or some fun jeans. You’ll be cute AND comfy as you sip on some spiced cider. Win win, no?

What to Wear Now and Later: Holiday Style

wear-now-and-later-december-2016

This time of year you hear so many women talk about never knowing what to wear for this and that holiday party. Lots of times they have something they could wear in their closet, but of course, we all like to treat ourselves to something new that just makes us feel good.

That is why I love this red swing dress from H&M. It is EXTREMELY versatile and can go from day to evening easily, which is why I feel it’s a great choice for both your Christmas day outfit and your New Years Eve look.

Exploring Wallis, TX

There’s something about exploring small towns nearby you and discovering things you’ve never seen before, like the two above murals and a church that’s a part of the Painted Churches of Texas Tour.

I definitely can’t wait until the weather gets cold and becomes what I call ‘adventure weather’, so that I can have more weekends of exploring cool things in my area.

Happy FriYay!

I spent this past weekend pretending that Fall actually exists in my area by going out to a pumpkin patch west of Houston with one of my girlfriends, because it’s honestly a bit tough to live near the Gulf Coast and see photos of changing leaves galore all over the internet.

Amazingly enough, though, it actually didn’t start getting warm until about noon (lately it’ll be in the 80s come 9 am), so this little outing ended up being super enjoyable. Also, I picked out a real winner and have already started figuring out what I’m going to carve into her. Hint: it’s going to be a based off of a *magical* series that really impacted my childhood and teen years…and still impacts me today haha

Oh! Also, since having gone out to said pumpkin patch there has been talk of not just one but two cool fronts to come our way down here in the Houston area. Eeeek! I’m so excited for *real* fall weather to come.

Happy Fall!

Wednesday Want: Knit’s a Date! A-line Dress

ww-knits-a-date-dress

I love love love this dress!

Seriously though–I love the color, the sleeve, and especially the fact that it’s an a line dress, aka my favorite silhouette. Also, I can easily imagine this dress being dressed up with a cute blazer or down with a denim or leather jacket.

It’d also be really easy to transition it into colder weather months by pairing it with some cute tights/leggings and a chic coat.

Life Lately via IG

  1. Had lunch at the Mason Jar, a restaurant that I’ve been going to since I’ve been in diapers, and I unfortunately found out that the land has been sold. If you’re in the Houston area from now until December–please check out this place!
  2. Made the first loaf of pumpkin bread for this fall season of the year. As you can see, it’s a heavily used recipe.
  3. Checked out the pumpkins and gourds at Trader Joe’s but managed only to buy some Pumpkin Spice Apple Cider (so yummy!).
  4. Saw a Theatre Under the Stars production of In The Heights, and it was such a phenomenal performance! (Wearing: LOFT dress, Target belt, J Crew Bucket Bag & Target sandals)
  5. A beautiful tapestry done by Leonardo Nierman titled “Rhapsody 2004”.
  6. The playbill and set of In The Heights.
  7. The stunning gold ceiling of the Hobby Center, which prompted me to want to start singing the Black Keys’ “Gold On The Ceiling”.
