Velvet, like suede and leather, is one of the most versatile types of fabric out there.
Pair a velvet top with skinny jeans, cool booties, and circle frame sunglasses and you’ve got a chic modern rocker vibe going on. If you want to dress up a basic blouse, pair it with a cute velvet mini skirt (a la Karen Gillian) or cool velvet flares. I also love how a velvet dress can be sexy or chic, depending on the cut of it and how you accessorize it.
And for all you shoe lovers out there, velvet booties, pumps, mary janes, and boots are the IT shoe right now. So get them while you can because they’re going fast!

For those of you who’ve followed me for a while know that I’m a fan of Lady Gaga. She is just so talented, and I love how she seems to truly have a good soul.
Speaking of talent, how amazing is this performance?!
Nineties fashion seems to have come back in style, and I must say, as a ’90s kid, I am loving it!
I especially love this top from Free People. It’s a great piece by itself or for layering. Also looks amazing with this ensemble of colored leggings and a flannel tied ’round the waist.
How do y’all feel about the ’90s making a comeback?
I spent this past weekend pretending that Fall actually exists in my area by going out to a pumpkin patch west of Houston with one of my girlfriends, because it’s honestly a bit tough to live near the Gulf Coast and see photos of changing leaves galore all over the internet.
Amazingly enough, though, it actually didn’t start getting warm until about noon (lately it’ll be in the 80s come 9 am), so this little outing ended up being super enjoyable. Also, I picked out a real winner and have already started figuring out what I’m going to carve into her. Hint: it’s going to be a based off of a *magical* series that really impacted my childhood and teen years…and still impacts me today haha
Oh! Also, since having gone out to said pumpkin patch there has been talk of not just one but two cool fronts to come our way down here in the Houston area. Eeeek! I’m so excited for *real* fall weather to come.
P.S. Sorry for the iPhone quality photos–I somehow forgot my Nikon at home! :O
Outfit Details: Loft Jeans, Teenplo top, Doc Marten Chelsea boots, Target Earrings, Essie Chincilly nail polish and Ray Ban Clubmaster sunglasses
I love love love this dress!
Seriously though–I love the color, the sleeve, and especially the fact that it’s an a line dress, aka my favorite silhouette. Also, I can easily imagine this dress being dressed up with a cute blazer or down with a denim or leather jacket.
It’d also be really easy to transition it into colder weather months by pairing it with some cute tights/leggings and a chic coat.

1.Butter London Nail Polish in British Racing Green– I love this color for when I want to step away from my tried and true shades (aka neutrals and red). It’s perfect for fall as the color is a nice hunter green and it has great staying power.
2. NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella–Scarlet red in color, this lip pencil and lipstick in one crayon has a great matte finish and doesn’t dry out your lips. I also love that this color in particular can be worn by a variety of people with different skin tones and still look amazing on. Also, the size of it is wonderful as it can easily travel with you no matter the size of your purse.
3. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Whiskey–This eye pencil is a lovely, rich brown matte color that really makes my hazel eyes pop. I also love how long it lasts, as well as how easy it is to apply. I’ve never done that well with liquid eyeliner due to the application of it, so an eyeliner like this one is exactly what I need.
4. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette–This palette is a-ma-zing! I honestly love the shades that come in this smaller palette and how often I can use them. It also is great for daytime wear/work, as the shades are both matte and neutral. I love pairing a few of the shades with my Urban Decay pencil for a more natural look and then adding some oomph with a bold lip.
5. Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara–A while back I got the O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara by Marc Jacobs as a sample from Sephora (and loved it), but I wanted to opt for something a little more toned down, which led me to purchasing this particular mascara. I love how it adds volume to my long lashes without making them look too grand. It also is really long lasting and even though it’s not water proof, I have been able to walk through a bit of rain with it on and didn’t end up looking like a raccoon (success!).
What is more perfect than combining one of my favorite movies and books of all time with nail polish? Nothing much–that’s for sure!
All in all, come the holiday season, this collection will be mine.
