Two Ways to Wear A Chambray Dress for the Rodeo

Two Ways to Wear A Chambray Dress for The RodeoRodeo season is upon us and you know what that means–denim, country music, and BBQ galore! With not being the biggest fan for all country music and having grown up in the Houston area, the excitement that comes with Rodeo season has definitely lessened for me over time. However, I am always willing to don some denim and turquoise so that I can eat some good ol’ barbecue.

Due to all the walking and eating that’s involved with attending the rodeo, I’ve always believed that comfort is the number one priority for any rodeo attendee. That’s why I love the idea of wearing a chambray dress, which can easily be dressed down with some neutral colored boots and a bandana or dressed up with some turquoise jewelry and fancy cowgirl boots.

Happy Rodeo Season!

#ShareYourEars

#ShareYourEars--2016

Thursday, Disney announced a charity campaign that benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This charity campaign asks Disney fans to share a picture of themselves with their “ears” on social media with the hashtag #ShareYourEars.

Each time a picture is shared, five dollars (up to $1 million total) will be donated to Make-A-Wish by Disney. The campaign will last until March 14th and there hasn’t been a limit posted as to how many photos you can share to help donate.

Honestly, sharing a photo is one of the easiest and most routine things we do this day and age. And if sharing one photo can lead to helping out such a wonderful cause, why wouldn’t you?

Hope to see some more “ear photos” out there!

Psst… Check out Neil Patrick Harris representing this wonderful charity campaign on behalf of Disney last night during ABC’s Wonderful World of Disney here.

Feeling Dotty

From Minnie Mouse to Twiggy, polka dots have had their hand in pop culture and fashion for almost a century now.

As fashion has evolved, so has the polka dot. Originally deemed a young or cutesy pattern, it now can be described as quirky or flirty or even sexy. Ooh la la.

I always love it when a print can be used in multiple ways and am so happy as the classic polka dot has revamped itself.

How do y’all wear your dots?

Give ’em a Little Valentine Lip

DSCN0441

Whether or not you’re you’ll be with your s.o., girlfriends, or family this Valentines Day weekend, a little color on your lips is a necessity. Not only will it perk you up, but I guarantee you that you’ll feel amazing (even if you’re sans a s.o. on this mushy holiday or just not a fan of it).

Obviously a pink or red is normally the way to go, but I favor a little variation and try not to stick to too traditional of a shade. A bubblegum pink lip easily adds a flirty vibe to a look while a blood red lip would certainly add a more passionate vibe, both of these being very appropriate for this weekend.

  1. Smashbox Be Legendary Cream Lipstick in Pout ($21 at Sephora). A gorgeous lipstick that provides just the right amount of pop and goes on very smoothly. Goes really well with a fresh face or minimal makeup.
  2. Nars Lipstick in Red Lizard ($28 at Sephora). One of my all time favorite red lipsticks (as previously mentioned in My Top 5 Red Lipsticks post). It works for practically every skin tone and lasts for hours.
  3. MAC Lustre Lipstick in Call the Hairdresser ($17 at stores that sell MAC Cosmetics). All you need is a swipe of this lipstick and you can call it a day. It’s such a no fuss shade that pairs easily with any outfit or season to where I wish I had more than one of it.
  4. Nars Audacious Lipstick in Anna ($32 at Sephora). My most recent purchase at Sephora that has easily become my new favorite lipstick. This matte smoky rose color really plays up your natural lip color and isn’t drying like most matte lipsticks. The price tag is a bit steep but if you’re looking for a semi natural shade, I suggest you give this one a try.

No matter how you’ll be spending this weekend, do so feeling as wonderful as you possibly can. There’s only one of you and you deserve to look and feel good, whether you’re out or just vegging out on the couch watching Netflix and/or romantic comedies.

Lace It Up

It seems like no matter where you look, whether it’s Tumblr or Instagram or Bloglovin’, you can’t escape seeing a photo of laced up shoes. They’ve definitely become the new “it” shoe and it seems many are loving them.

I personally love the look and feel of laced up flats. It’s definitely a new take on the classic shoe and really puts a modern and even sexy twist on them–perfect for V Day weekend out with your girls or your s.o.!

There’s a bridge along FM 723 that crosses the Brazos River, and every time you cross it to enter/leave the Rosenberg/Richmond area, you see glimpses of oranges, reds, and purples. These glimpses happen to be of the mural on the side of the Hawkins Furniture Co.

I’ve always wanted to see this mural up close since it had always intrigued me. Of course, the colors are what originally drew me to it, but it was Charlie Brown and Snoopy that cemented my love for it.

Chuck and Snoopy are basically the cherry on top of this cool mural for me.

Wednesday Want: J Crew Laila Wedges

J Crew Laila Wedges_1

When I recently thumbed through the latest J Crew Style Guide, I was immediately drawn to these wedges.

I love the ankle strap, the variety of colors and fabrics they come in, and the height of the heel. Personally, this floral leather print is my favorite but the blush colored suede ones are gorgeous as well.

Also, now that Phil the Groundhog didn’t see his shadow, these babies will surely see some action with Spring soon to come.

We All Live in A Yellow Submarine

DSCN0424DSCN0427DSCN0428DSCN0432IMG_1744

In Downtown Rosenberg, a small town south west of Houston, there’s antique stores lining the streets that people flock to throughout the year.

This past weekend, I visited this area for the first time in close to five years with a good friend of mine. While going from antique store to antique store we spotted a large amount of street art, including this mural. Being a Beatles fan since practically birth, I just had to get some shots in of it and luckily brought my little camera with me.

After scouring the stores and snapping photos of the murals, we also had a late lunch at a cute place called Another Time Soda Fountain. If you’re ever in the area, go try this place out! The patty melt and cherry limeade was so good and I already know i’ll be getting a milkshake next time I visit.
