Cityscapes and Campuses

IMG_0412 IMG_0413 IMG_0414 IMG_0417 IMG_0420 IMG_0425

Rice University is such a gorgeous campus and is also located in the heart of Houston. Close by is the Museum District, Rice Village, and the Medical Center. Either area is great for exploring as they’re all filled with shops and restaurants galore.

It’s always nice to just park nearby and explore the campus and nearby sights.

One of the current exhibitions at the Contemporary Art Museum of Houston is Destroy and Rebuild by Robert Hodge, a local artist who’s been involved in the city’s art scene since the ’90s.

Destroy and Rebuild is heavily influenced by R&B music, which is seen via the Outkast lyrics piece, and also by American pop culture and current events. With pieces like Stand Your Ground, you can easily understand the message behind Hodge’s collection.

I highly recommend seeing this exhibition for those who are or will be in the Houston area until the last date of the exhibition, January 4th.

#BISCUITPAINTWALL

Montrose has always been a Houston neighborhood that caters to twenty-somethings and those on the artsier side. What I love most about this eclectic area is how some of it’s aspects are constantly evolving–the art, the restaurants, the shops, and all. The Biscuit Paint Wall is a prime example as it is a mural that has just appeared within the last year and its location was where another mural was previously located.

For those wanting to also explore the Montrose area, some great spots within walking distance of the mural are:
-Cafe Brasil
-Agora
-Taxi Taxi
-Space

Hope everyone is having a great holiday season so far!

Lampshades On Fire

For those who are also fans of Modest Mouse, you can understand just how elated I am for the band to finally be releasing a new album for the first time in years this coming Spring.

Their first single, Lampshades On Fire, is definitely a mixture of previous work with new pop-like sounds to transcend them into a new era. All in all, I’m quite excited to see what else will be on their newest album.

A Furry New Member of the Clan

IMG_0380

Meet the latest member of my family–Bo!

His favorite hobbies include: barking to get your attention, taking the cushions off the couch, eating non-stop, sniffing every little thing in sight, and chewing on electrical wires.

(And yes, it is hard to be mad at that adorable face when he does said hobbies.)

All in all, it’s wonderful to have a furry buddy running around again in the house.
