Tumalo Falls, located just outside of Bend in the Deschutes National Forest, was by far one of the most scenic hikes I’ve ever been on. It’s a real easy quarter mile hike up to the viewpoint and then a four mile hike further up towards Happy Valley.

We decided to hike up to the viewpoint and then to just hike along the creek as the views of the forest surrounding it were too good to stop looking at.

I’d definitely recommend this hike to anybody, even those who don’t really hike, as it was fairly easy and quite scenic. For more experienced hikers, there’s also Black Butte or Smith Rock–both also have incredible views.

Happy Friday!

Wednesday Want: Kate Moss for Topshop Pansy Dress

Kate Moss for Topshop Pansy Dress

This fit and flare dress by Kate Moss for Topshop is just perfect for Summer. It can be worn to work with a cute blazer over it and then out to dinner with some cute heeled sandals (yes… I am already figuring out summer outfits for both work and after work shhh).

I’ve also been loving the fit and flare shape lately as it’s so conformable and it actually narrows in at my waist and not ‘near’ my waist. I’d definitely recommend this style of dress to other women who, like myself, have a narrow waist and a fuller bottom.

Happy Wednesday!

One of the best things to do while in Bend is to take a tour of Deschutes Brewery. The easiest way to sign up is online and the tour is free along with four samples you get along with the tour.

The tour itself is cool as the guide not only talks about the history of the Deschutes brewing company but of beer in general. It’s also a huge plus that the brewery is located right on the Deschutes River and across from one of the main areas of Bend–the Old Mill District.

Off to Bend!

For the other half’s and mine anniversary we are taking a weekend trip up to Bend, OR. Gotta say, love the timing of our anniversary this year as it coincides perfectly with Memorial Day weekend.

Some of my favorite spots in and around Bend would have to be the Old Mill District, Bond Street, the Deschutes Brewery, Smith Rock, Mt. Bachelor, and the Newberry Volcano.

For those who haven’t visited Central Oregon ever before–you definitely should!

Hope y’all have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Lovin’ Right Now: Mara Hoffman Swimwear

mara hoffman garlands printed bikini mara hoffman geometric printed one piece   mara hoffman rays printed bikini   These three swimsuits have been a prominent presence in my Pinterest feed. Before seeing these pop up in my feed, I had never heard of neither Mara Hoffman or her swimwear before. I’d have to say, her use of fruit motifs and geometric patterns along with the shape of her swimwear is so quintessential summer-like and I love it. Her swim collection is available on most sites like Net-A-Porter and ShopBob along with being available in one of my favorite stores–Anthropologie.

One For The Road

Memorial Day weekend will be starting this Friday for me and I’m honestly just way too damn excited about it. The other half and I will be heading up to Central Oregon for an overnight trip to wind down and celebrate our anniversary. With that in mind, the weekend will be filled with hiking, brewery tours, and dinner by the Deschutes River.

One of my favorite things about the upcoming trip will have to be the drive, as we will be going through McKenzie Pass and Sisters, OR. “One For The Road” and the rest of the Arctic Monkey’s AM album will definitely be playing as we make our way.

What will be y’alls driving music for this upcoming weekend?

Last weekend, as previously mentioned, I went down with some other petrologists from the UO to study the metamorphism of the Klamath Mountains. The Klamath River itself is gorgeous but the scenery around it is just a bit of heaven for geology gals like myself.

For anyone going to Northern California soon, I’d definitely recommend stopping by this national park for the views and some great hiking and climbing.

Happy Friday!

Phantogram

On my most recent field geology trip down to the Klamath Mountains in Northern California, a friend introduced me to this duo out of Greenwich.

“Fall In Love” was definitely, though, my favorite song of theirs to listen to on the way back. I just love the combination of Sarah Barthel’s vocals against the electronic background.

Definitely give them a listen!

P.S. Klamath photos to come this week!

I have always loved the idea of mixing prints and textures–it just gives so much more to an outfit. These ladies and their outfits really exemplify how lovely playing with patterns can be.
