Lovin’ Right Now: Sunflower Print

 

February is finally at it’s close and we all know what that means–Spring is on it’s way! Sunflowers have always been one of my favorite flowers, along with tulips and peonies, as I’ve always loved just how happy of a flower they are. Lately, sunflowers seem to be printed on just about anything.

Once Spring finally gets up here in the NW I’ll be sure to trying this print out! I mean, it’s honestly just too cute to not try it out.

Newman’s Fish & Chips

One of my favorite things about living in the Northwest is the quality of fish and seafood that you can get. Every city has multiple fish and chips places and Newman’s is one of my favorites in Eugene. Their salmon fish and chips are so yummy and I get them every time, even when I say I want to try something new. Just about everyone who I take here when they’re visiting loves this place and the ones who don’t, well they never liked fish in the first place. I also love their outdoor patio area next to their kitchen and small dine-in area. On sunny days, like how it was this past Saturday, there’s nothing like sitting out on their patio and nomming on some fish and chips.

Style to Admire: Chloe Sevigny

 

Not many could pull off a calf length dark knitted crochet dress with ankle booties or layering a sweater on top of a button up dress that’s all the way buttoned besides here. I love the “risks” that she takes along with having such a good sense of knowing what her style is and showing that she doesn’t really care of other people’s opinions about it. Her attitude of wearing what she wants to wear–whether it’s considered androgynous, shabby, or dowdy–is great. I honestly think it’s an attitude we should all adopt…except maybe when wanting to wear just jeans, docs, and a sweater while giving a presentation, ya know?

Wednesday Want: American Apparel Denim Vest

Honestly, a denim vest is such a classic investment piece. Not only can you wear it during the Summer over a dress but you can also style it over a cute hoodie or zip-up for the colder months. I love this one because unlike many others out there right now it’s a longer style and isn’t cropped. Cropped denim vests are cute, don’t get me wrong, but I feel that are longer version would just overall last someone much longer than a cropped one.

Female Robbery

I know I know…it’s been quite awhile since I’ve posted something for Music Mondays and I do apologize. No, it’s not because I didn’t have music I wanted to share with y’all (I’m always in the mood to share music). These past two weeks I’ve been holed up in Mineralogy Lab for a good 24+ hours during the week and more. Hopefully here soon I’ll get back on track with my posts.

Under Cut

I took a major risk over this past weekend by telling my hair stylist to put a razor to just about half of my hair while leaving the other portion slightly long. As crazy to some it may look, I feel so amazing having done it. Yes, some do say I’m brave and that I’m lucky to have a face suited for very short hair (compliments like that make me blush like no other). What is the most interesting result from this change has to be the more risks I’ve been willing to take with my outfits and how I’m exuding more confidence than I have been lately.

Listen, I don’t recommend this type of haircut to everybody out there. If you have been thinking of taking a major risk lately, though, I totally encourage you to just jump. You never know what will be the result until you do it.

Also, can I just mention how gorgeous it was this past Saturday? Thank you Oregon for your amazing terrain, it is much appreciated!

Healthy Winter Recipes to Try

 

 

Winter is honestly one of the hardest times to want to eat healthy as I’d much rather nom on some Shepherd’s Pie while it’s chilly outside. However, I have found that there are some warm recipes (especially the above Lasagna Soup) that are pretty darn healthy and can warm you up in an instant. I’ve already made the side dish of kale and broccoli (top picture) but instead of using chickpeas I used sunflower seeds and it turned out to be super yummy that way.
