Starting Friday early morning, the Willamette Valley was hit by a winter storm and we were blanketed with at least 4 inches of snow or more. These photos, taken on Saturday on the way to nom on some pumpkin pancakes, show how much our town was turned into a winter wonderland just within a little over 24 hours. I’ve always loved snow, ever since my first trip to Colorado when I was younger, and I’m so happy to have seen some snow before I head back down to Houston for Christmas with the fam.

While the snow was coming down pretty hard this past weekend, I felt that it was absolutely necessary to put on White Christmas. Since the first time I saw the holiday classic movie I’ve been in love with it. The costumes, the singing, the dancing, and just the overall story of the movie. Being able to watch it with my other half (it was his first time seeing it) while the snow was falling outside just has made me love the movie even more so than I already did.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, the other half and I travelled up to Portland not only to see Pearl Jam but to also celebrate the birthday of a good friend of ours. Going to the Portland Art Museum was a must–plus, the Samurai Exhibit that’s showing there right now is too cool to pass up. Our friend also indulged in the fact that I was a newbie to the city as we also ventured off to Pioneer Square and the iconic Mississippi Avenue neighborhood.
Also, for those who love restaurants that put local farms to good use make sure to check out Sweedeedee on Albina Ave. It’s a very quaint cafe and there generally is a wait to get a table, but the atmosphere and fresh food makes up for the wait and then some. Sweedeedee has also recently been named among the Top 10 restaurants in Portland by Portland Monthly magazine.

The Pearl Jam concert this past Friday the other half and I went to was amazing. Not only did we get to see them perform our favorite songs but also covers of Pink Floyd and Lou Reed. Oh, and for the last song Carrie Brownstein’s (of the show Portlandia) band Sleater-Kinney reunited onstage to perform Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” with Pearl Jam and R.E.M’s Scott McCaughey and Peter Buck.
Needless to say, that was by far one of the best concerts in my life.
