Thanks to Emily of The Locus of Style, I stumbled upon a wonderful artist from Greece–Xenia Ghali. Alongside her is another newbie, Noni Culotta, from Houston (woop!). Culotta’s sound is unique amongst what is popular today, manily due to it’s retro feel. Her retro quirk along with Ghali’s catchy electronic flair makes for some great music.
First of all, I just wanna say that Aubrey Plaza has to be one of my favorite current actresses. Not only is she amazing in Parks & Recreation, but every interview I watch of her makes me love her even more so. Her sass and wit is just without comparison. Also, she can do a pretty good mental breakdown–as seen in this music video.
This song, for some reason, always seems to put me in an ethereal mood to where I just want to sway back and forth. Which is why the video is so ironic for me as it goes a totally different direction with the person Aubrey Plaza plays having a very public breakdown and becoming a hot mess. Oh, and also the fact that she gets “kidnapped” by some dude isn’t really what I have in mind when I listen to the song either.
No matter what direction the music video went, I still thoroughly enjoy it and the whole mood associated along with the song.
School will be starting up here soon for most colleges, and as the first day gets closer there’ll be more people out shopping. The great thing for college students is that a decent amount of stores give student discounts. I’m honestly so glad I found out about these before I visited the Topshop store in L.A. as it helped me save a TON of money along with the summer sale that was going on.

Also, here’s some great “Girl Code” advice that we all need to remember. How we dress is a reflection of ourselves, so why let other people dictate how we look? Love this show!
Peter pan collars have always had the reputation of being “boyish”. To be fair, they can have that affect but they can also be feminine or quirky and they can even give a bit of a retro vibe to your outfit.
I love the collar on the ModCloth dress for the sparkles, but I really enjoy the stand alone pearl peter pan collar from ASOS, which you could wear with just practically anything.
Sixteen year old Ella Yelich O’Connor, known as Lorde, and her single “Tennis Court” have made her an international singer to be reckoned with. From having “Tennis Court” played during the Wimbledon Ladies Final match to replacing Frank Ocean at the Splendour in the Grass Festival in Australia (who cancelled due to a torn vocal cord), the Auckland native has accomplished a-lot since her first singled dropped in March.
Have a great start of the week!

P.S. Every time I hear the line “meet me down at the tennis court” I always go back to the scene in Sabrina where Humphrey Bogart’s and Audrey Hepburn’s characters dance in the indoor tennis court. I don’t know why, but that’s just always what I picture in my head.
Ever since I got these NastyGal lip earrings from my other half, I’ve been obsessing a bit over all lip printed things. I love the quirky Katherine Bauman lip purse; however, it’d definitely be a major splurge item. The Topshop leopard lip print tee, though, could be paired with jeans or a skirt or even worn over a dress.
